Second generation of computer.

A transistor computer, now often called a second generation of computer.

  1. In this generation of computer we use discreate transistors insted  of vaccum tubes .
  2. Time period of second generation of computer was ( 1956 - 1960 ) .
  3. It comsume less power in comparison to first generation of computer.
  4. Cost Mantainanse of this generation of computer was heigh but in comparison to  first generation it was low
  5. It requires AC because it producess lots of heate.
  6. Size of this generation of computer was smaller from first generation of computer.
  7. Accuracy was quite good in comparison to first generation of computer.

First generation of computer.

Time period of first generation was ( 1945 - 1956 ) .  The first computer system use vaccum tubes for circuitry and magnetic drums for memory.  The UNIVAC and ENIAC computer are the example of first generation computer. It consumes high power of electricity.  Cost maintenance was so much heigh.  The speed of first generation computer was very low.  Size was very big almost it cover whole room.  The accuracy of this generation of computer was not good

Third generation of computer.

Here we will discuss about third generation of computer.  Time period of third generation of computer was ( 1964 - 1971 ) .  The computer of third generation, used integrated circuit insted of vaccum tubes. ( ICs ) in the place of transistos.  A single IC has many transistor, resistors and capacitors along with associated circuitry.  It was more reliable in comparison to previous two generations.  The size was small comparison to first and second generations.  Required lesser maintenance.  Consume lesser electricity and generate less heat, that's why AC was not required.  It supports to heigh level language, and costly in price and fast.
